Femgrafía publishes its first photo book

Six years after its founding, Femgrafía, the online gallery dedicated to showcasing the work
of women photographers from Latin America and Spain, proudly announces the release of
its first photobook: INDEX: Liberando el Archivo. This publication marks a pivotal moment in
the consolidation of its visual archive, aimed at challenging personal and collective
narratives through photography.
Since 2023, INDEX: Liberando el Archivo has existed as a permanent online group
exhibition, bringing together the work of 60 women photographers from diverse
backgrounds. This visual archive explores approaches ranging from documentary to
experimental creation. With the arrival of the photobook—also functioning as a catalog—the
project is solidified as a space for dialogue and reflection on visual narratives from the
female perspective, challenging the boundaries of the medium and traditional ways of
storytelling.

Edition Details
The photobook, co-published in collaboration with the independent feminist publishing house
Miau Ediciones under the direction of Andrea García, has been produced in a limited edition
of 100 copies. Created using the risograph technique, an analog printing method with
vegetable-based inks, the production process reflects the project’s commitment to
sustainability and environmental care.
Production was carried out by Impresos México, a space led by Andrea García and a team
of talented women based in Mexico City. This collaboration highlights the value of female
creative networks in the construction of editorial and artistic projects.
An Invitation to Reflect
INDEX: Liberando el Archivo is not just a tribute to the work of 60 women photographers but
also an invitation for readers to challenge stereotypes and embrace new ways of
understanding and experiencing contemporary photography. With thoughtful curation and a
design aimed at amplifying each visual narrative, the photobook and exhibition reaffirm
female creativity as a disruptive force within contemporary art.
